About the role
Detroit Recovery Project is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Certified Peer Recovery Coach to join our Youth Recovery Housing team. This is a first shift position with a flexible start time between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and corresponding end times between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Utilize your lived experience and professional peer support skills to empower young adults as they navigate recovery from substance use disorders.
- Provide encouragement, mentorship, advocacy, and practical support while helping residents build the skills necessary for long-term recovery and independent living.
- Aid clients with recovery planning and goal setting.
- Attend to treatment services and recovery groups.
- Support vocational training and employment readiness.
- Navigate educational opportunities and community resources.
- Teach independent living skills and ongoing recovery support.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with individuals in a Substance Use Disorder (SUD), Behavioral Health, or related human services setting.
- Current Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) or Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) certification through the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
- Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver's License.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to successfully pass all pre-employment screening requirements, including a criminal background check and drug screening, consistent with applicable laws and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Preferred: Previous experience with data entry and client scheduling.
- Preferred: Experience working with transition-aged youth (ages 18-24).

Pay
This grant-funded position offers an hourly wage of $20.00-$22.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and other non-discriminatory factors.
