Peer Recovery Coach

About the role

The Peer Recovery Coach provides non-clinical services intended to aid patients in establishing recovery from alcohol and/or drugs. The Peer Recovery Coach will work as part of the Emergency Department team to provide peer support and motivation to encourage patients who are seeking treatment for alcohol or drug dependency and addiction issues. The Peer Recovery Coach will assist in completing referrals to treatment services and developing plans to promote successful linkage to treatment and recovery support services. Services will be provided in the Emergency Department with appropriate follow-up.

Requirements

• Preferred High School Diploma or GED
• Less than 1 year of experience required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Candidate must be actively engaged in their own recovery program with sustained abstinence and a minimum of three years demonstrated personal recovery from alcohol and/or drug use
• Peer Recovery Specialist certification is not required at time of hire but must be obtained within 18 months
• CPR AHA Healthcare Provider certification required
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and data entry skills
• Detail-oriented
• Able to relate to diverse audiences, including patients and health professionals
• Ability to develop professional working relationships with partner agencies
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
• Good problem-solving skills
• Able to read, interpret documents, and write routine reports
• Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and an interest in acquiring new skills

Pay

Pay Range: $17.12 to $26.00 (based on experience)
