About the role
Banner Baywood Medical Center is seeking a Certified Patient Care Assistant to join our Clinical Care Operations team. This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contributes to the overall patient plan of care. It involves collecting patient specimens and data, assisting with activities of daily living, and performing various unit support functions.
Responsibilities
- Assists in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional intake.
- Collects and documents vital signs, input/output, and other delegated measurements.
- Recognizes and reports abnormalities and changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment.
- Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating patient status to other caregivers.
- Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, under supervision.
- Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms.
- Ensures adequate supplies of patient education materials and assists in the ordering of patient specimens.
- Transcribes and processes physician orders effectively using the electronic medical record.
- Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when needed.
- Reconciles supply order upon delivery.
- Maintains adequate levels of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and laptop computers.
- Participates in OR room turnover and assists with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care units.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice.
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (for certain departments).
Qualifications
- Experience in a hospital or physician office setting.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy.
- Basic electrocardiogram interpretation course or on-the-job training.
Skills
- Ability to perform basic patient care tasks.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy and keyboarding skills.
- Ability to recognize and report patient abnormalities.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Benefits
- $3,000 sign-on bonus for Licensed CNA or LNA.
- Flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential.
- 18% Night Shift differential when applicable.
Pay
This position is paid based on the current pay scale for a Certified Patient Care Assistant at Banner Health.
Schedule
The position is a full-time NIGHT Shift working three 12-hour shifts per week from 6:00pm-6:30am. The team uses a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.
