About the role

The occupational therapy assistant performs patient-related activities. Services may include, but are not limited to, purposeful activities or interventions to maximize the independence and the maintenance of health of any individual who is limited by a physical injury or illness, a cognitive impairment, a psychosocial dysfunction, a mental illness, a developmental or learning disability, or an adverse environmental condition.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the occupational therapist when performing tests, evaluation and complex treatment procedures
• Observing, recording and reporting to the therapist the condition, reactions and responses related to assigned duties
• Assisting the therapist in consulting with patients, family members and other health care professionals as appropriate
• Assisting with the care of the occupational therapy department and equipment
• Assisting the occupational therapist with in-service programs and other meetings as assigned

Requirements

• Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification required
• High School Diploma/GED Required
• Strong Interpersonal Skills

Work Environment

Skilled Nursing Facility, Rehabilitation Center, Hospital, or Outpatient Clinic. May involve prolonged standing, lifting, and assisting patients with mobility.

Pay

Pay rate $30-$43/hour
