Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Implementing individualized treatment plans
  • Educating patients and caregivers
  • Documenting progress and communicating with the care team
  • Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals
  • Helping patients improve functional independence in everyday activities
  • Participating in swing bed activities programming
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Promoting patient safety and exceptional patient experiences
  • Working with patients across outpatient rehabilitation, hospital swing bed, and other programs depending on clinic needs
  • Providing appropriate information at meetings such as team and family conferences, home health conferences, and clinic meetings
  • Maintaining current knowledge of therapy techniques through in-service classes and continuing education
  • Assisting in appropriate treatments, assessing care accuracy, and providing feedback to the Clinical Manager
  • Seeking necessary information and input from staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Using therapy devices including exercise tables, fitness equipment, assistive devices, wheelchairs, pulleys, weights, and other equipment
  • Demonstrating an awareness of safety in all aspects of patient care
  • Performing other duties related to the position as needed

Qualifications

  • Applies skills learned during academic training, educational programs, and practical experience to treat patient/family needs
  • Demonstrates competency in implementation of treatment plans
  • Documents appropriately
  • Evaluates effectiveness of plan and modifies as indicated, following consultation with the Occupational Therapist
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills when interacting with families, physicians, patients, and others involved in a patient's care
  • Provides a cooperative and respectful environment
