About the role

Ten Broeck Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking Full-Time and Part-Time Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) for day (7a-3p), evening (3p-11p), overnight (11p-7a) shifts. We are a 258-bed facility recognized throughout the Hudson Valley for our outstanding delivery of subacute and long-term care. We work hard to provide a calm, friendly, and healthy environment for our residents and employees. We are located at 1 Commons Drive, Lake Katrine, NY 12449.

Responsibilities

• Perform activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, assistance in nutrition and hydration, locomotion/ambulation, feeding, incontinence care, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming (comb/brush hair, nail care, shave)
• Provide bowel and bladder assistance, maintenance rehab, proper understanding of least restrictive devise regulations, proper utilization of restraint devises, and special care needs
• Provide for residents with special needs related to their diagnosis (i.e. behavioral issues, splints, etc.)
• Report all cases of alleged violations involving mistreatment, neglect or abuse including injuries of unknown sources
• Document resident care accurately and completely at point of care utilizing computerized medical record system
• Note resident changes of condition and report same to LPN/RN
• Answer call bells in a timely and polite manner
• Assist in provision of post-mortem care
• Perform vital signs as directed
• Report on duty, listen to and/or obtain report from Charge Nurse, receive assignment
• Make two hour and prn rounds on all residents
• Keep unit neat and clean; straighten nourishment station, clean and dirty utility room and other areas as assigned
• Ensure the resident is out of bed, dressed and ready to participate in activities of choice
• Provide assistance with ADLs during activities if necessary
• Assist resident to participate in individual activities of choice (i.e.: set up of equipment, positioning assistance, providing sufficient lighting and space)
• Care for multiple residents in the facility
• Observe Resident Rights
• Assist nurse with admitting, transferring, and discharging residents
• Assist nurse in giving treatments and examining residents
• Assist with restorative and rehab care with proper instruction and supervision
• Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality

Requirements

• Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the state of practice and employment
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel

Physical requirements

• Requires movement throughout entire unit
• Must be able to lift, push, pull and move a minimum of 50 lbs
• Must be able to bend, lift, and transport equipment
• Must be able to lift and turn residents
• Requires ability to utilize computerized medical record system for the purposes of medical record documentation
