About the Role

The Certified Nursing Assistant aids professional and technical nursing personnel by performing a variety of duties related to patient care, including taking and recording vital signs, assisting with hygiene and elimination, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining a clean and safe unit environment. Additional responsibilities include stocking supplies, operating hospital equipment, performing routine clerical tasks, and assisting with other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting and Documentation of Care:
    • Accurately measures and records patient weights and vital signs.
    • Recognizes and reports changes in the patient's condition, takes appropriate action, and accurately documents all activities.
    • Receives, inventories, and secures patient belongings as appropriate.
  • Patient Comfort and Privacy:
    • Assists patients with hygiene, elimination, routine skin care, comfort measures, and other Activities of Daily Living (ADL), considering patient age, gender, culture, and stated preferences while maintaining privacy and respect.
    • Maintains a clean and safe environment, ensuring infection control procedures and HIPAA compliance.
  • Collaboration for Patient Care:
    • Assists with patient care activities as directed by licensed nurses, including specimen collection/transport, turning and positioning, and patient transportation.
  • Communication:
    • Engages in caring behaviors, demonstrating ownership and proactive actions in work activities.
    • Uses independent judgment and decision-making appropriately.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Demonstrated prior patient care experience.
  • Certification as a Nurse Assistant (CNA) in the state of CA.
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification.
  • Understanding of basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only).

  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.

Pay

Pay Rate: $22.80 - $30.70 (average rate for 12 total hours worked, including overtime).

Benefits

$6,000 Sign-on Bonus for eligible candidates. To qualify, you must have one or more years of experience. Some restrictions and exceptions apply. Current and some former hospital employees may not be eligible. The bonus is available for full-time regular positions and is paid in increments over 12 months to active employees in good standing.
