About the role
This Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate care to hospice patients, supporting their daily living activities and ensuring comfort and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Provides or assists in activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, mouth, skin care, and nail care.
- Assists with toileting, positioning, transfer activities, and frequent turning of bed-bound patients.
- Supports prescribed exercise and range-of-motion (ROM) activities as taught by the Hospice Nurse.
- Performs light housekeeping in the patient’s personal unit or room, including changing bed linens and handling patient laundry as needed.
- Feeds and assists patients with meals.
- Obtains and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, and respirations) under the supervision of the Hospice Nurse.
- Reports any changes in the patient’s condition to the Hospice Nurse and, if in a facility, to the facility nurse. Documents information on the Home Health Aide Certification of House form, including the date, time, and person receiving the report.
- Assists or reminds the patient to take medication in compliance with regulatory and accrediting body standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- State Certified CNA license.
- Experience in hospice or home health preferred, but not required (1 year of experience preferred).
- Willingness to travel.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
