Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system.
• Assists patient with their needs.
• Assists patients to bathroom, with bedpan and urinal.
• Checks and provides needed care to patients who soil and/or wet themselves.
• Baths, dresses, and undresses patients.
• Aids patients with all hygiene tasks (mouth care, fingernails, grooming of hair, etc.).
• Gives non-systemic enemas as assigned.
• Collects specimens for laboratory tests as assigned.
• Performs nursing intervention programs as assigned (range of motion, bowel and bladder training, etc.).
• Observes patients for any changes in physical or mental condition and reports observations to the charge nurse.
• Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help.
• Transports patients or assists patients to walk.
• Provides fresh water in pitchers in patients' room. Collects pitchers and cups for sterilization.
• Changes bed linens, makes beds, directs visitors, and answers telephone.
• Checks and records patient health care activity as stated on assignments.
• Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed.
• Maintains patient areas (closets, dresser, drawers, etc.) in an orderly manner.
