About the role
The CNM will function in the following role:
- Provide prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care for healthy obstetric patients.
- Interact with the Obstetric physicians to facilitate care of midwifery service patients requiring cesarean section or other interventions.
- Provide newborn care following delivery and until 28 days post-delivery to well newborns.
- Provide preventive well-woman exams, including pap smears and breast exams, and contraception on an outpatient basis.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an RN School of Nursing is required.
- MSN with graduation from a Certified Nurse Midwifery program is required.
- 2-3 years in an obstetrical office practice as either a Women’s Health Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife is required.
- Experience with new obstetrical office patient exam routines, return prenatal patient examination routines, charting, and documenting.
- Ability to perform uncomplicated vaginal deliveries is required.
- Ability to assist at cesarean section deliveries as a first assistant is required.
Required Certifications/Licensures
- Nurse Midwife Nurse Practitioner (NMNP) licensed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN).
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
- Must obtain and maintain staff membership and appropriate privileges (i.e. ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS, etc.).
- Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
- Must meet all qualifications to participate in the hospital’s programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.
