Certified Nurse Assistant, Nurse Assistant, or Trainee - Weekend Option - Night Shift - 800 West Tower

The position is located at CoxHealth South, 3801 S National Ave, Springfield, MO 65807, within the 1033 Neuro 800 West Tower South department. The unit is a Level I Stroke and Trauma Center’s 26‑bed Neuro‑Ortho unit, specializing in stroke, trauma, and neurosurgical cases for patients aged 18‑102, providing a fast‑paced, dynamic environment focused on teamwork, compassion, and excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff.
• Take vital signs, bathe, dress, and move patients.
• Change linens and perform other assigned duties.
• Obtain information on patient condition as requested by nursing staff and report any changes.
• During clinical training rotations, perform duties within scope of practice under supervision of clinical educator and nursing staff.
• Complete competency assessment at the end of training to validate learning.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Experience:
  • Preferred: Prior patient care or health‑related experience.
  • Required (for CNA role): 3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long‑term care setting, EMT, or surgical technologist within the past 3 years; OR completion of an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel program within the past 3 years; OR completion of a “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing program; OR possession of a Missouri CNA license (or MO CNA Appendix) with license to be obtained within 120 days of hire.
• Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Schedule

Scheduled weekly hours: 24 hours. Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM, night shift.
