Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, including taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens
- Obtain information on patient condition as requested by nursing staff and report any changes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Nurse Assistant Training Program
Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel.
- During clinical rotation, provide basic patient care under the direction and supervision of a clinical educator and nursing staff
- Perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens within scope of practice
- Obtain information on patient condition as requested by nursing staff or clinical educator and report any changes
- Complete a competency assessment at the end of training to validate learning
Requirements
For Certified Nurse Assistant / Nurse Assistant:
- 3 months of experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or surgical technologist within the past 3 years
- OR completion of an unlicensed assistive personnel program within the past 3 years
- OR completion of the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing or practical nursing education program
- OR a Missouri CNA license
- OR a MO CNA Appendix (MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire)
For Nurse Assistant Trainees:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Prior patient care or healthcare-related experience (preferred)
