About the role
This position provides direct patient care in a MedSurg setting, under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).Responsibilities
- Treats patients with respect and dignity, ensuring privacy in all patient interactions.
- Completes tasks efficiently and manages time effectively. Responds promptly to call lights and conducts hourly rounds.
- Assists with activities of daily living including meal setup and feeding, toileting, ambulation, transfers, positioning, dressing, and bathing.
- Accurately documents care provided, including activity logs, meals, intake and output, vital signs, weights, swing bed activities, and ADL assessments.
- Uses computer skills to register patients when necessary, order specimen collections, and maintain equipment.
- Participates in unit cleaning, maintenance, and restocking, including diet kitchens, utility rooms, report rooms, patient rooms, supply rooms, med carts, IV trays, and equipment.
- Displays good technical skills in vital signs, intake and output, specimen collection, weight measurements, isolation procedures, hot and cold packs, and SCDs.
- Respects and follows instructions from medical professionals and reports any changes in patient condition promptly.
- Maintains equipment and reports any faulty items.
Requirements
- Completion of a state-approved CNA certification program.
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of North Dakota.
