Brief Description
The Certified Nurse Aide - Medication Aide is a primary caregiver in assisted living responsible for administering medications, assisting with ADLs and IADLs, monitoring vital signs, and reporting findings to the nursing staff.
Shift Details
- Full Time
- 7 am - 3 pm
- 4 days a week and every other weekend
Compensation
Hiring range: $22.52 to $26.44 per hour. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.

Requirements
- Administer medications as prescribed by physician and document accordingly
- Assist residents with ADLs and IADLs
- Maintain resident safety and report any significant changes
- Observe residents for changes in mood, behavior, affect, cognition, and physical changes
- Document care provided using medical documentation systems
- Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance, 26+ pounds with manual or mechanical assistance
- Ability to walk, stand, reach, bend and squat frequently, and stand for up to 4 hours at a time
- Ability to push medication carts and occupied wheelchairs
- Caring and compassionate with a willingness to help others
- Knowledge of validation therapy, CCRC, and VDSS Assisted Living Regulations
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Certificate to practice as a Certified Nurse Aide in the State of Virginia in good standing
- Registered to practice as a Medication Aide in the State of Virginia in good standing
- One-year experience administering medications in assisted living facility
- Direct experience working with geriatric or cognitively impaired residents
- Dementia training
- CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification
