Brief Description

The Certified Nurse Aide - Medication Aide is a primary caregiver in assisted living responsible for administering medications, assisting with ADLs and IADLs, monitoring vital signs, and reporting findings to the nursing staff.

Shift Details

• Full Time
• 7 am - 3 pm
• 4 days a week and every other weekend

Compensation

Hiring range: $22.52 to $26.44 per hour. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.

Requirements

• Administer medications as prescribed by physician and document accordingly
• Assist residents with ADLs and IADLs
• Maintain resident safety and report any significant changes
• Observe residents for changes in mood, behavior, affect, cognition, and physical changes
• Document care provided using medical documentation systems
• Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance, 26+ pounds with manual or mechanical assistance
• Ability to walk, stand, reach, bend and squat frequently, and stand for up to 4 hours at a time
• Ability to push medication carts and occupied wheelchairs
• Caring and compassionate with a willingness to help others
• Knowledge of validation therapy, CCRC, and VDSS Assisted Living Regulations

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Certificate to practice as a Certified Nurse Aide in the State of Virginia in good standing
• Registered to practice as a Medication Aide in the State of Virginia in good standing
• One-year experience administering medications in assisted living facility
• Direct experience working with geriatric or cognitively impaired residents
• Dementia training
• CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification
