Certified Medication Technician for Memory Care Community
The Role
At St. Ives Hometown Living of Johns Creek, we seek a Certified Medication Technician/Aide (CMT/CMA) who embodies compassion and dedication. This position offers an opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of seniors living with dementia.
Responsibilities
- Administer medication to residents, accurately documenting in the EMAR system and monitoring for adverse effects.
- Work as the Lead on the shift, supervising Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in providing ADL assistance, and coaching them to promote resident choice and independence.
- Ensure adherence to protocols and guidelines for the health and safety of all residents, including proper lifting techniques and universal precautions.
- Encourage participation in enriching activities and programs, and engage in meaningful, one-on-one interactions to uplift residents' spirits.
- Monitor residents' mood, food intake, and functional status, documenting any changes and communicating urgent needs to the care team.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming environment by promptly removing soiled items and supporting a fresh, healthy atmosphere.
- Respond decisively to resident crises or emergencies, using training and caregiving instincts to provide immediate comfort and aid.
- Foster positive, respectful communication among staff, residents, and families, building a supportive network for our entire community.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old with a clean criminal background check.
- Hold or obtain current certification in emergency first aid and CPR.
- Complete a pre-employment physical examination and tuberculosis screening.
- Show the physical strength and gentle touch necessary for safe resident transfers and support.
- Achieve and maintain necessary training in areas such as emergency procedures, resident's rights, infection control, and dementia care.
- Read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, and communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Be willing to work various schedules and shifts to support our residents.
