Certified Medication Assistant (MA-C)

About the role

Laramie Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a Certified Medication Assistant (MA-C) to administer prescribed medications to residents and maintain related medical records under the supervision of a Nurse. Shift differentials are available for nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms.
• Presents medication to resident and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication using specified processes.
• Takes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares reports.
• Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.
• Receives supply of ordered medications and apportions, mixes, or assembles drugs for administration to residents.
• Records and restocks medication inventories.

Requirements

• Certified Nursing Assistant for one year.
• Successful completion of training approved by the State for Certified Medication Assistants.
• Must currently be certified as a Medication Aide (MA-C).

Skills

• Ability to understand, plan, and carry out care plans and treatments.
