About the role

Responsible for maintaining laboratory clients following client service procedures. Duties and responsibilities extend to external laboratory clients and caregivers/associates throughout Aurora and Advocate Health Care Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of patient laboratory test results.
  • Ensures quality of test results by following defined Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures.
  • Maintains appropriate education to accomplish work objectives and maintain current certifications as applicable.
  • Ensures productive and efficient operations of the section and department.
  • Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.

Requirements

  • LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR REGISTRATION: MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required.
  • Associate's degree with experience preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Technical ability and interest.
  • Basic computer skills.

Qualifications

  • Must wear protective equipment (gloves, gowns/lab coats, eye protection, face protection).
  • Subject to exposure to infection from disease-bearing specimens or patients.
  • Subject to exposure to risk of blood borne/airborne diseases.
  • Subject to exposure to odorous chemicals and specimens.
  • Subject to moderate noise environment.
  • Subject to exposure to hazards for electrical/mechanical/power equipment.
  • Subject to occasional irregular hours.
  • Subject to many interruptions and stressful situations.

Pay

$19.20 - $28.80 based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
