Responsibilities
- Create and own the patient experience
- Properly document and report all procedures and assessments in accordance with department policy
- Absess patients during clinical check-in, document pertinent medical information and vital signs, and check for signs of abuse or neglect using age-specific guidelines
- Administer treatments, medications, and follow-up assessments ordered by the provider, verifying as needed, and respond appropriately in clinical emergencies and triage situations
- Perform diagnostic and occupational medicine testing, including EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus, and pulse oximetry, and complete forensic testing collections in accordance with DOT and State Drug Free Workplace Guidelines
- Complete check-out duties and relay instructions and care to the patient or family
- Perform required Quality Control checklist to ensure patient safety
- Follow CDC guidelines, infection prevention practices, demonstrate appropriate use of PPE, perform hand washing according to policy, and follow safety regulations
- Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives
- Train newly hired clinical staff as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of general medical assistant practices
- Demonstrated ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements
- Ability to operate a computer, copier, fax and scanner
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and others of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment
- Strong critical thinking skills
Qualifications
- High School Grad or Equiv
- Technical/Vocational School
- 1+ related work experience or graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with completion of externship
- 6 months relevant experience within an AdventHealth facility
- Previous MA experience
- Previous urgent care / ED experience
