Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for consultations with healthcare providers.
  • Aid in patient examinations, procedures, and treatments, ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Obtain and accurately record vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
  • Perform basic medical procedures such as phlebotomy, EKG, wound care, and administering specific injections under supervision.
  • Administer vaccines as requested by the provider.
  • Conduct laboratory tests such as urinalysis, blood glucose, and rapid strep tests.
  • Manage inventory and ensure adequate stock of medical supplies and medications.
  • Schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures, and coordinate referrals as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR), ensuring compliance with confidentiality regulations.
  • Handle patient inquiries, telephone calls, and messages promptly and courteously.
  • Verify insurance coverage, collect co-payments, and process billing and coding accurately.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Adhere to established clinical protocols, infection control measures, and safety standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining accreditation standards.
  • Stay updated with industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices through continuing education.

Preferred Experience

  • Proficiency in medical terminology, clinical procedures, and basic pharmacology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • An attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical billing software preferred.
  • A willingness to adapt to changing healthcare policies, procedures, and technologies.

Required Licensure/Education

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; CPR certification may be required.
