Job Description

As a Certified Medical Assistant/Patient Care Associate/Surgical Scheduler for our Astera Urology office, you will provide clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of our Urology practice in East Brunswick. Your responsibilities include:

• Taking and recording vital signs and preparing patients for examination
• Obtaining and updating patient medication
• Administering injections
• Authorizing prescription refills as directed by physicians
• Auxiliary roles in Vasectomy, Cystoscopy, and Biopsy Procedures
• Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments
• Managing clinical supply inventory
• Collecting urine and blood specimens
• Surgical scheduling
• Prior authorizations for medications and radiology
• Refills, lab orders, lab results for patients in progress
• Using EMR system, Microsoft Teams, Excel, and additional hospital EMRs
• Providing customer service (greeting patients and engaging with providers/staff/vendors)
• Checking in/checking out patients
• Performing clerical duties
• Surgical scheduler responsibilities: coordinating and scheduling appointments, performing pre-operative and post-operative data entry, and assisting with the efficient management of the daily surgery schedule.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Medical office experience (1 year preferred)
• Certified Medical Assistant
• BLS certification
• Proven working experience as a medical assistant or medical secretary (1 year preferred)
• Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Willingness to travel to other locations

Pay & Benefits

Pay Range: $21/hr - $30/hr
Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
