Essential Functions

  • Administers medication to clients in accordance with agency policy and standard medication protocol; documents reasons why prescribed drugs are not administered.
  • Aid with admissions.
  • Receive referrals and triage referral requests for doctor visits. Coordinate the doctor list for in-person / telehealth visits.
  • Take vital signs of clients and observe clients to detect response to specified medications.
  • Complete urinalyses (observing urine samples, testing onsite: breathalyzer, smokalyzer and/or packaging for laboratory).
  • Ensure that an appropriate level of medical supplies and equipment & Lab Corp supplies are available for use.
  • Order medications as required; check in medications; monitor temperature for refrigerated medications.
  • Prepare injections for nurses to administer; log daily medications/injections administered.
  • Review all medical/wellness requests made by clients to ensure that services have been appropriately coordinated.
  • Perform customer service duties by meeting and greeting clients upon arrival for treatment; admit clients to the unit or facility by taking inventory of belongings; conduct tours and orientation of unit; clean and maintain bedrooms when required.
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of the unit.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical documentation in the electronic health record and complete progress notes; complete shift reports in a timely manner.
  • Correspond with pharmacies, hospitals, etc. Inform supervisor of any changes, problems, questions, etc. regarding the medication unit.
  • Provide coverage for front desk; answer phones as needed.
  • Schedule appointments for clients; enter appointments for physicians.
