About the role
Aid in the examination and treatment of patients under the guidance of a physician or advanced practice provider.
Responsibilities
- Support treatments ordered by the provider under supervision from the provider or registered nurse.
- Conduct patient interviews, measure vital signs, and document findings in patient charts.
- Prepare examination rooms and perform basic clerical tasks such as answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
- Manage supplies by ordering and stocking them. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Document the provider's encounter with patients, listing diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions.
- Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
Requirements
- BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross certifications are accepted.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required upon hire or job transfer.
- A high school diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant job-specific experience is required.
