CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT MAC FLOAT
Summary
Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking experienced Medical Assistants to join our dedicated team. As essential members of the clinic team, Medical Assistants contribute to the healthcare of patients by assisting with exams and procedures, organizing and managing patient flow, and taking on other responsibilities based on the needs of the department.
Position Highlights
The Ideal Candidate
- Prior experience in an outpatient clinic setting as a Medical Assistant
- Prior experience performing phlebotomy
Responsibilities
- Ambulate and move patients on/off exam table, chairs, and wheelchairs using proper body mechanics and safety measures such as lift equipment
- Perform initial patient screening, including vital signs, screening questions, allergy information, and medication history as appropriate
- Notify appropriate staff of positive screening or abnormal vital signs
- Document collected data completely and accurately in medical record including staff notifications
- Load images in preparation for provider visit, as needed
- Ensure clinic patient flow is smooth and efficient
- Keep patients and clinical team informed of delays
- Communicate effectively to patients, providers, nurses, and other team members
- Assist practitioner in patient procedures/treatments/examinations, including room preparation, patient positioning, supplies, and equipment
- Depart from clinic those patients that do not require nursing intervention
- Maintain and use principles of aseptic techniques and universal precautions when performing clinical duties and tasks
- Maintain the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care or services based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area
- Utilize computerized systems according to departmental needs
- Provide support to the provider during clinic by assisting with phone calls and faxes
- Recognize emergency situations and implement emergency procedures
- Administer first aid and CPR
Credentials and Qualifications
- Moffitt accepted certifications listed below:
- Medical Assistant Trainee: High school diploma or GED, required. BLS, required. Completion of Medical Assistant Program CMA Certification required within 6 months from date of hire.
- Clinical Assistant: High school diploma or GED, required. BLS, required. 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic setting or equivalent role CMA Certification required within 6 months from date of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant: High school diploma or GED, required. BLS, required. CMA certification, required.
- Certified Medical Assistant II: High school diploma or GED, required. BLS, required. CMA certification, required. 2 years of Medical Assistant experience, required.
Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $20.14 - $30.70 per hour, which may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
