Certified Medical Assistant - Hematology/Oncology

Position Purpose

Ambulatory care setting physician or other professional healthcare provider with support for patient care and examinations, including exam preparation and lab work.

Responsibilities

• Show patients to exam room
• Interview patients
• Measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height)
• Document in Electronic Health Record
• Take any necessary labs
• Prepare for pick up and record in the patient electronic health record
• Communicate with the appropriate departments on protocol for all labs and receiving all information they need for procedures
• Properly set up exam room and prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Assists with procedures and examinations per physician/healthcare provider preference
• Maintain knowledge and skills of front office operations
• Assists as necessary with reception, medical records, scheduling and billing functions of the office

Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant from one of the following organizations: AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA, NHA, NAHP, or NPCE
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of previous Medical Assistant experience in a Physician's office (preferred)

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certification from one of the following organizations: AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA, NHA, NAHP, or NPCE
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of previous Medical Assistant experience in a Physician's office (preferred)

Skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Basic computer skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
