About the role
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the direct delivery of primary health care support and patient care management under the direction and supervision of the Physician. Duties include assisting the physician in the implementation of nursing care as directed, all aspects of the medical office, and may include responsibilities in the front office and clinical areas. Has full access to patient health information.
Responsibilities
- Assist the physician in the implementation of nursing care as directed
- Perform duties in both front office and clinical areas
- Perform venipuncture accurately (preferred)
- Handle clerical tasks including scheduling, payments, billing/coding, and medical records
- Operate medical office equipment
- Provide excellent customer service
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification
- Experience preferred
- Working knowledge of medical practice and care, including examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures; equipment and instruments; safety hazards, and precautions
- Training in venipuncture preferred
- Clerical experience, including scheduling, billing/coding, and medical records
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of business software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, pay close attention to details, and provide excellent customer service
- Current CPR certification or willingness to complete within 30 days of hire
Physical Demands
- Possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position, including walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, and sitting for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
Schedule
Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
