About the role
CAN Community Health is now hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) I. A sign-on bonus is offered if you apply between now and July 31, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Performs medical intake procedures including vital signs and history.
- Performs complete patient evaluation and assessment.
- Records and reports on symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in patient’s conditions.
- Performs immunizations as directed by the physician.
- Practices safe phlebotomy skills using standard precautions.
- Assists the front desk by greeting and assisting patients with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Accurately collects, processes and posts patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles and outstanding balance.
- Verifies and updates patient insurance information and eligibility during check-in.
- Schedules and confirms patient appointments, managing any necessary follow-up for missing documentation.
- Performs venipuncture and fingerstick on all patients as ordered.
- Identifies patients using two unique identifiers and verifies test orders prior to specimen collection.
- Prepares collection sites using aseptic technique and selects appropriate collection equipment.
- Labels specimens accurately at the point of collection.
- Processes, centrifuges, and prepares specimens for transport or analysis according to laboratory protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) is required or ability to achieve certification within 6 months of hire.
- CPR certification required.
- 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass a Level I and Level II Background check as required.
