Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) I

About the role

CAN Community Health is now hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) I. A sign-on bonus is offered if you apply between now and July 31, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical intake procedures including vital signs and history.
• Performs complete patient evaluation and assessment.
• Records and reports on symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in patient’s conditions.
• Performs immunizations as directed by the physician.
• Practices safe phlebotomy skills using standard precautions.
• Assists the front desk by greeting and assisting patients with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Accurately collects, processes and posts patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles and outstanding balance.
• Verifies and updates patient insurance information and eligibility during check-in.
• Schedules and confirms patient appointments, managing any necessary follow-up for missing documentation.
• Performs venipuncture and fingerstick on all patients as ordered.
• Identifies patients using two unique identifiers and verifies test orders prior to specimen collection.
• Prepares collection sites using aseptic technique and selects appropriate collection equipment.
• Labels specimens accurately at the point of collection.
• Processes, centrifuges, and prepares specimens for transport or analysis according to laboratory protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) is required or ability to achieve certification within 6 months of hire.
• CPR certification required.
• 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass a Level I and Level II Background check as required.
