Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (CES)

Essential Functions

• Works effectively within a team environment
• Maintains student confidentiality
• Implements Individualized Education Program (IEP) and student health plans
• Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, including listening
• Navigates doctors’ orders to understand proper care for students
• Physically lifts and/or transfers students while maintaining safety
• Affords student restrooming/toileting/diapering
• Safely and accurately prepares and administers medications and injections under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider (school nurse)
• Affords student feedings, via G-Tube
• Performs basic vital signs of students
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Certificate of Completion from a Medical Assisting Program
• Certification of Medical Assistant (CMA (AAMA), NCMA (NCCT), RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), and NRCMA (NAHP))
• One year of experience in healthcare preferred, but not required
• Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and upmost adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA laws/guidelines
