Responsibilities
- Adhere to and support the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
- Comply with the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
- Demonstrate support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities; adhere to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures; and report compliance issues/concerns in a timely manner.
- Assist in the assessment of patient needs and health plan by taking vital signs, history, medication listing, assessing visual acuity, and determining chief complaint.
- Assess patients’ physical and mental status.
- Complete all necessary documentation in the patient’s medical record in accordance with practice’s charting policy.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians with medical treatments, exams, and medical procedures.
- Administer prescribed oral medications and give intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections.
- Perform venipunctures, CLIA-Waived and non-CLIA Waived lab testing.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and visitors, including cleaning, sterilizing, and storing instruments in accordance with practice policies.
- Stock rooms in preparation for the daily work schedule and take inventory of medical and exam room supplies.
- Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances.
- Arrange for specialized consultations and appointments for testing as ordered by the physicians.
- Notify appropriate insurance personnel to pre-certify surgeries or tests ordered by the physician or other healthcare provider, which require pre-certification by the insurance company.
- Answer office phones, assist the front desk in scheduling appointments, and direct calls appropriately.
- Assist in checking out patients and help them with referral processing and scheduling.
- Assist in other functions of the physician practice as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program OR equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of education.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred (required in some departments; will allow 90 days to obtain it).
- CPR/BLS certification is required.
- At least one year of experience working in a physician office is highly preferred.
- Compliance with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of the workforce. Proof of full vaccination or an approved religious or medical exemption is required prior to start date. If exempt, regular testing in accordance with the law is required.

Pay
$25.00 - $30.57 hourly. Individual wages are determined based on qualifications and experience. $1000 sign-on bonus.
