About the Role

Certified Medical Assistant needed for a busy cardiology practice in Myrtle Beach. Background in cardiology required. Must have excellent computer and customer service skills.

Schedule

Monday through Thursday: 7:45 am – 5:15 pm
Friday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
No nights or weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to clinic patients under supervision of physicians and Patient/Clinical Services Manager
  • Travel between offices as needed
  • Assess patient’s general condition and take vital signs and weight
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments
  • Provide basic patient care as ordered
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed in the medical record
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician advice/instructions
  • Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies
  • Review all patient cases and acknowledge requests accordingly; update action notes before closing
  • Review all cases created for providers at office location
  • Handle patient requests for callbacks promptly and in a timely manner
  • Maintain inventory at a minimum and place medical supply orders as needed
  • Keep patient rooms fully stocked and cleaning log up to date
  • Demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position

Requirements

  • Certification or nursing license required upon hire and maintained during employment
  • Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality
  • Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records
  • Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques
  • Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace, and confidentiality methods
  • Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff
  • Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff, and others
  • Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands

Working Conditions

  • Combination of office and exam room environments
  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, and medicinal preparations
  • Hepatitis B vaccination and TB test required
  • Varied activities including sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, and reaching
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and lift up to 100 pounds
  • Occasional stress from workload
  • Must be able to use office equipment (phone, writing instruments, PC, fax) and medical equipment (stethoscope, EKG machine, ear washing equipment, speculums, scales, blood pressure cuff)
