Busy medical practice in Myrtle Beach seeking a Certified Medical Assistant. Background in Primary Care preferred.

Schedule

  • Monday–Thursday: 7:45 am – 5:15 pm
  • Friday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • No nights or weekends

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to clinic patients under physician and manager supervision
  • Travel between offices as needed
  • Assess patient’s general condition, take vital signs and weight
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments
  • Provide basic patient care as ordered
  • Document all activities, interventions, patient responses, and medication in the medical record
  • Promote wellness through patient education materials and physician advice
  • Adhere to infection control, safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies
  • Review and acknowledge patient cases; update action notes before closing
  • Handle patient call-back requests promptly
  • Maintain inventory and place medical supply orders as needed
  • Keep patient rooms fully stocked and cleaning log up to date
  • Demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position

Requirements

  • Certification or nursing license required upon hire and maintained during employment
  • Excellent computer and customer service skills
  • Ability to travel between offices

Knowledge

  • Basic nursing principles and protocols
  • Policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality
  • Medical chart reporting and records

Skills

  • Appropriate assessment and assistance techniques
  • Use of universal precautions, safe workplace, and confidentiality methods
  • Health information management and charting patient data

Abilities

  • Work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff
  • Interact appropriately with patients, families, staff, and others
  • Flexibly respond to changing demands

Working Conditions

  • Combination of office and exam room settings
  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, and medicinal preparations
  • Hepatitis B vaccination and TB test required

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Varied activities including sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, and reaching
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and lift up to 100 pounds
  • Occasional stress from workload
  • Use of office equipment: phone, writing instruments, PC, fax
  • Use of medical equipment: stethoscope, EKG machine, ear-washing equipment, speculums, scales, blood-pressure cuff
