Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) / Administrative Assistant (AA)
NaphCare is partnering with Everhealth to hire a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) / Administrative Assistant (AA) to join our team of medical professionals in the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, NV.
About the role
As a Correctional CMA / AA, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence. This position operates within a controlled environment where security is a top priority. You will assist physicians and other healthcare professionals with examinations, take patient histories, record vital signs, and support administrative tasks. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference for a diverse population of patients with complex medical needs. New graduates are encouraged to apply—we provide training in correctional healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Duties
- Perform routine blood drawing procedures as applicable by licensure
- Take and document vital signs, height, weight, and assist with PPDs and EKGs as required
- Assist with examinations and/or treatments; report all changes in patients’ conditions
- Assist with patient hygiene, ambulation, and dressing changes
- Administrative Duties
- Receive and route visitors, inquiries, and issues to the appropriate staff
- Transmit correspondence and medical records via mail, email, or fax
- Perform clerical and administrative functions, including ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies
- Sort and distribute mail and interoffice correspondence
- Perform bookkeeping duties, such as preparation of expense reports and maintaining petty cash and receipts
- Transmit and maintain medical claims, subpoenas, and medical record requests as required
- Assist with staff scheduling and coordinate meetings
- Prepare and maintain monthly reporting and statistical data
- Gather and maintain documentation required for accreditation surveys
- Notify critical information to management that may impact client/vendor relations or patient care
Requirements
- CMA Certification—completion of an accredited medical assisting program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Able to obtain BLS/CPR Certification (AHA required)
- Office Lab Assistant License (for Nevada only)
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct
- Comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances
- Perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR
- Maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift
Pay
Pay rates range from $20.70 to $21.85 per hour.
