Certified Medical Assistant / Business Assoc, Primary & Walk-In Care - Montvale, Part Time Evening

Under the direction of the physician, Charge RN, or Manager, this role performs direct clinical activities in a courteous, caring, and respectful manner. Responsibilities include patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and any tests required by the physician. The position also involves front desk activities such as greeting patients, registering them, ensuring insurance compliance, and collecting payments at the time of service. You will maintain the daily patient schedule, answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, handle medication refills, and coordinate with clinical staff to ensure proper patient flow.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical tasks including patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and other tests as required by the physician.
  • Accurately document patient information in the EMR system in accordance with licensure and VMG policy and procedures.
  • Greet, register, and check in patients, ensuring insurance compliance and collecting appropriate payments at the time of service.
  • Maintain the daily patient schedule and answer incoming calls to schedule appointments, handle medication refills, or direct inquiries of a clinical or billing nature.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff on any special needs or requirements to ensure proper patient flow.
  • Support the practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager.
  • Maintain close working relationships with all practice staff to ensure proper workflow, care, and treatment.
  • May require rotating to other VMG locations from time to time when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey (certification required).
  • Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management, or business, and computer literacy.
  • Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office, or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience required.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners such as American Medical Technology (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • BCLS certification preferred upon hire, will be required.
  • Understanding of the operations of a medical practice preferred.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday: 4pm - 8pm
  • 1 weekend a month: Saturday and Sunday 8am - 2pm

The weekday schedule is flexible and can be discussed with the manager to support departmental needs and candidate availability.

Pay

Pay Range: $22.99 - $28.74 per hour. Actual individual salaries vary depending on role, experience, education, and licensure.
