We operate 40+ clinics across Washington and Oregon, offering a wide range of services such as medical, dental, pharmacy, orthodontia, nutritional counseling, autism screening, and behavioral health. Our holistic model also extends assistance to shelter, energy, weatherization, HIV and AIDS counseling, home visits, and mobile medical/dental clinics.

Schedule

Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week). Schedule: Monday–Friday 7:45 am–8:00 pm; Saturday and Holidays 8:45 am–4:00 pm, rotating.

Pay

$21.44–$31.58 per hour, based on experience. Additional pay for bilingual skills, paid on hours worked.

$5,000.00 Hiring/Retention Bonus Structure:

• At Hire: $1,500.00
• At 180 days (6 months): $2,000.00
• At 12 months: $1,500.00

Bonus will be pro-rated based on Full Time Equivalency (FTE).

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient medical records, updating patient medical history, current status including vital signs, medical treatments, and medication provided
• Reviews and updates patient immunization records
• Prepares for patient visits by reviewing the patient file, including requests for labs, referrals, and correspondence; verifies and ensures necessary reports are present
• Provides updates to Provider team as needed and collaborates with Providers to ensure efficiency of schedules and continuity of care
• Discusses patients scheduled for the day including pre-visit preparation
• Prepares and maintains patient exam rooms, ensuring appropriate supplies and sterilized equipment are present
• Prepares patients for examinations, explaining medical treatment procedures as needed
• Provides limited education and/or coaching for patients within scope, including discharge information and follow-up questions
• Instructs patients about medication and possible allergic reactions
• Responds to patients’ questions and concerns in person and via email; directs inquiries outside of scope to the appropriate person
• Assists physician during examinations, procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries
• Anticipates Providers’ needs and manages Providers’ requests
• Collects and prepares laboratory specimens, completes screenings, and collects/reviews patient data per protocol
• Follows up on test results as directed by healthcare Providers and documents specimens collected and results in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Prepares and administers medication as directed by a physician
• Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency approved by the US Department of Education
• Graduation from a medical assisting training program (one-year certificate/diploma or two-year Associate Degree) accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
• Training program must include at least 720 hours of medical assistant training, with at least 160 hours in a clinical externship
• One year’s experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
• CPR certification required within 90 days of hire
• Must have Medical Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant Interim Certification from WA State Department of Health; certifications must be maintained and remain current
• Spanish-speaking skills required at a level 10 (ALTA score); this position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation
• Medical knowledge for understanding theories, reasons, and technical aspects of medicine
• Strong people skills to handle different personalities, backgrounds, and personal situations
• Strong multi-tasking ability to handle the variety and pace of work
• Basic proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Epic, and EMR
