Responsibilities
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow established quality control policies and procedures, documenting all corrective actions when necessary.
- Identify and address issues affecting test performance independently or report to supervisor.
- Perform a variety of laboratory procedures, including manual and automated methods in various disciplines.
- Maintain and document instrument and equipment maintenance as needed.
- Review and document patient results before release or reporting.
- Recognize and account for age-specific variations in test results.
- Ensure proficiency testing samples are analyzed similarly to patient samples and collaborate only after reporting results.
- May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on patients of various ages.
- Aid in developing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures.
- Comply with department and hospital policies related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
- In the absence of a supervisor, assume responsibility for the section or department during their shift.
- Assist with LIS and/or POCT responsibilities as assigned.
- Perform other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the department manager/director.
Qualifications
- ASCP certification or equivalent, preferred.
- One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA.
- Current and valid state license if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Pay
The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $33.79.
