Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA)
Right at Home provides compassionate in-home care and assistance, helping seniors age in place in Middlesex, Mercer, and Northern Monmouth Counties. As a Certified Home Health Aide or Companion Caregiver, you’ll support daily activities and ensure clients remain comfortable and independent at home.
About the role
Certified Home Health Aides must be detail-oriented, follow care protocols, and adhere to instructions from doctors and nurses. They should be trustworthy, dependable, and capable of addressing minor medical issues or reporting changes in a patient’s health.
Responsibilities
- Record and report medically necessary data
- Assist with daily functions such as dressing and bathing
- Plan and organize transportation for doctor’s appointments and other meetings
- Light housekeeping (dusting, mopping, laundry)
- Prep and cook meals
- Grocery shopping
- Report patient health status to nurses
- Teach patients self-care skills
- Work in facility-based, hourly, or live-in care settings
Requirements
- High school graduate or G.E.D. (preferred)
- NJ Licensed as a Certified Home Health Aide (required)
- 2-step PPD and physical within the last 12 months
- MMR vaccination
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job
- Reliable transportation
Pay
$18–20 per hour (depending on experience and case)
Schedule
- Full-time, part-time, and per-diem shifts available
- Weekend and overnight shifts offered
