Essential Functions

  • Perform flight instructor duties authorized by FAA regulations in accordance with approved Syllabi's.
  • Ensure students understand and practice SFS Training procedures and policies, including Safety Standards.
  • Schedule students regularly to ensure on-time progress through courses and inform supervisor of delays or unsatisfactory progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student training, including training records and logbooks.
  • Initiate stage checks and end-of-course requests for students.
  • Monitor aircraft maintenance and report concerns to SFS maintenance personnel.
  • Recommend curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate.
  • File incident reports for safety violations or unsafe conditions affecting flight safety.
  • Attend meetings and assist with special projects as assigned.

Competencies

  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor, Airplane Single-Engine Land, Instrument Airplane.
  • Aircraft piloting skills including required flight maneuvers and procedures.
  • Effective instructional techniques in both classroom and flight settings.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Federal Aviation Regulations and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and noisy environment.

Physical Demands

  • Climbing, squatting, kneeling, lifting as required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • Full Time or Part Time, varying days and shifts depending on business needs.

Travel

  • As needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • Valid CFI Certificate.
  • Valid CFI-I Certificate.
  • Must hold a current FAA 1st or 2nd Class Medical Certificate.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
