About the role

Our client is seeking a Certified Cloud Architect to join their team, supporting the Bureau of Security as part of the Division of Enterprise Technology. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive mindset.

The role is located in Madison, WI.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of the state's Flaw Remediation Standard to transition from manual vulnerability management to AI-accelerated, continuous authorization.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior leadership, including CISOs and CIOs, providing strategic guidance on cloud security architecture.
  • Operationalize security controls, including tiering models, control validation, and risk governance within complex enterprise environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce security frameworks utilizing tools such as Google Threat Intel, VirusTotal, Mandiant ASM, Tenable.io, and Microsoft Azure Arc.
  • Mentor and train infrastructure and security operations staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Requirements

  • Proven experience serving as a trusted advisor in large or complex enterprise environments, preferably within the public sector or heavily federated organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring, training, or leading engineering teams focused on security and infrastructure operations.
  • Expertise in operationalizing security controls, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise cyber security tools and cloud platforms such as Google, Microsoft, AWS, and Splunk.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
