A Brief Overview
The certified athletic trainer will provide athletic training services to Washburn University.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Physical Education or related field from a 4-year college or university.
- Preferred: Master's Degree.
Experience Qualifications
- Required: 1 year Athletic training experience.
Licenses and Certifications
- Athletic Trainer (AT) - KSBHA.
What You Will Do
- Prevention, recognition, evaluation and immediate care, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries.
- Incorporate use of modalities such as mechanical stimulation, heat, cold, light, air, water, electricity, sound, massage and the use of therapeutic exercises and reconditioning exercise.
- Provide athletic training coverage of assigned athletic events to include evening and weekend events.
- Pre-game/practice taping and preparation.
- Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatments.
- Make appropriate referrals for injured student athletes.
- Act as a liaison between physicians, Washburn University, athletes and their parents/coaches.
- Present educational programs for coaches, educators, parent groups, medical groups and civic organizations.
Travel Requirements
50% Will require travel for coverage of Washburn University games as part of our sports medicine agreement.
