About the role
The Athletic Trainer provides care to both healthy athletes and those who have impairments, functional limitations, or changes in physical function and health status as a result of injury, illness, or other causes. The Athletic Trainer works with occasional guidance by collaborating with the health care team using modalities, personnel, equipment and supply resources.
Responsibilities
- Works in prevention of injury and illness
- Identifies and evaluates injury
- Refers and coordinates with appropriate healthcare team members and settings
- Rehabilitates the injured or ill athlete
- Communicates with other members of the health care team, coaches, strength and conditioning staff, parents, and athletes regarding injury and illness prevention and management
Requirements
- Licensure by the Georgia State Board of Athletic Trainers
- BOC certification as Certified Athletic Trainer
- Comprehensive knowledge of Athletic Training practice, NATA position statements, emergency management
