Job Summary
Affords support in managing patient/athlete visits within the clinic, performing clinical responsibilities under the guidance of physicians. Engages in community outreach and educates on Athletic Training topics. Oversees and mentors student athletic trainers and interns.
Essential Functions
- Interacts with patients and others involved in patient/athlete care to coordinate interdisciplinary treatment approaches.
- Collects initial patient history, vital signs, and follows up with patients as directed.
- Organizes ancillary studies and presents them for physician review.
- Provides patient education upon discharge regarding physical therapy, further studies, and follow-up appointments.
- Taughts, counsels, and communicates with patients, athletes, their families, coaches, and others to achieve desired outcomes.
- Supports the safe return to play of athletes or activities of patients and educates the community on injury management and prevention.
- Coordinates and presents educational materials at local, state, and regional levels on Athletic Training topics.
- Assists with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Physiology, or related field preferred.
- Experience: No experience required.
- Certifications, Registrations, Licenses: Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the state where the team member is working.
