Certified Athletic Trainer - Baseball

About the role

We are seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to join our Baseball program. This role focuses on illness and injury prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and care for student-athletes in competitive athletics.

Responsibilities

• Injury Prevention, Treatment, and Rehabilitation (65%)
  • Collect and manage all medical paperwork, including pre-participation examinations.
  • Perform baseline testing, corrective exercise screenings, movement profiles, and develop individual protocols for injury prevention or movement deficiencies.
  • Coordinate medical care for in-season and official team practices, including home hosting duties and travel to away contests.
  • Manage medical maintenance needs and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for home and away contests, including communication with opposing team athletic trainers.
  • Serve as liaison to team physicians and other medical providers to ensure proper care.
  • Follow prescribed rehabilitation and treatment protocols from team physicians, including referrals to formalized rehab.
  • Perform treatments, rehabilitations, taping/bracing, and casting as needed.
  • Document all injuries, illnesses, and mental health incidents in the E.M.R. platform.
  • Assist with medical coverage of other teams as needed or assigned.
• Student-Athlete and Coaching Staff Communication (20%)
  • Prepare timely and accurate documents such as injury/illness reports, care updates, daily athletic training records, and summaries for coaches (including Strength & Conditioning Coach) and medical staff.
  • Communicate effectively with strength and conditioning coaches regarding injured student-athletes’ limitations and parameters for rehabilitation.
  • Consult with coaching staff on conditioning programs, equipment safety, and facility safety at competitive venues.
• Athletic Training Room Operations (10%)
  • Participate in the mentorship program with your assigned athletic trainer.
  • Provide supervision, instruction, delegation, evaluation, and assistance to students, including volunteers, interns, and federal work-study participants.
  • Support the advancement of athletic training facilities, including maintenance, upkeep, inventory, and ordering.
• Administration, Documentation, and Compliance (5%)
  • Maintain B.O.C. certification and Missouri licensure, including continuing education units (CEUs).
  • Maintain medical malpractice liability insurance.
  • Collaborate with staff on rehab, treatment, movement profiles, and readiness testing.
  • Participate in research collaboration opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Senior Associate Director, or Associate Director of Sports Medicine, based on candidate experience and departmental needs. Additional responsibilities may include supervising other athletic trainers, facility oversight, scheduling, or administrative tasks.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a related/relevant area.
• At least 2 years of experience in athletic training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior athletic training experience working with Division I Baseball.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; nights, weekends, and travel as required.

Pay

Salary Range: $54,000.00 – $69,500.00 per year
