Responsibilities
- Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
- Assists in the preparation of drug compounds and solutions.
- Fills, checks, and delivers medication orders.
- Audits and distributes controlled substances.
- Maintains departmental infection control standards.
- Creates various reports and documents in support of department record-keeping.
- Completes labeling requirements for medication.
- Participates in Quality Assurance activities.
- Assists in the management of pharmacy inventory.
- Assists in day-to-day operations of the Infusion Center.
- Maintains professional competency.
- Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
- Performs other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.
Requirements
- High School graduate with experience in pharmacy and familiarity with drug usage, or completion of a hospital-based training program leading to certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Must be certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board with the CPHT certification and licensed through the RI Board of Pharmacy as a Tech II.
- Must be available for rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights as well as every other weekend and every other holiday.
- Must have experience working with computers, possess good interpersonal skills, and be proficient in the English language.
