About the Role

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Certified Athletic Trainer for our Sports Medicine & Athletic Training department located within the Edgewood hospital/OP. This position provides athletic training services within assigned outreach programs, delivering comprehensive medical coverage focused on the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and management of athletic injuries and illnesses.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate appropriate post-injury care, manage referrals, and return-to-play protocols
• Ensure accurate documentation and communication of care plans
• Collaborate closely with athletes, parents, coaches, physicians, school administrators, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes
• Assess and implement bracing, taping, and equipment needs
• Participate in staff education and performance improvement initiatives
• Support sports medicine programs through concussion management, pre-participation physicals, research projects, physician extender activities, and other outreach initiatives
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Master’s degree in athletic training or related field (effective 2023 new graduate requirement). If hired before 2023, a Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related field is acceptable
• National certification from Board of Certification (BOC) – National Athletic Trainers Association
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state where work is being performed. Must obtain Regular/Unrestricted License in the state where work is being performed within 6 months of employment
• BLS/CPR Certification

Skills

• Expertise in prevention, diagnosis, and management of musculoskeletal injuries
• Broad range of injury management including both musculoskeletal, concussion, and emergency care
• Knowledge of Athletic Training regulatory issues
