Key Responsibilities
- Classroom/Kiln Operations: Independently load and unload kilns, fire kilns as needed, monitor equipment, track inventory, order materials, and maintain clean, orderly, and safe spaces.
- Administration & Program Development: Create and manage ceramic program budgets, develop ceramic production items for ArtsQuest, and coordinate with ArtsQuest Retail Department and Visual Arts Manager.
- Program Development: Oversee the selection of ceramic artists for ArtsQuest Studio Membership Program and work with ArtsQuest Staff and Manager of Visual Arts on policies and procedures.
- Teaching: Facilitate Ceramic open studio twice a week, provide orientations and training, and problem solve in the classroom and membership space.
Requirements
- Education & Professional Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Ceramics or related field; 2-3 years’ experience in an academic, non-profit, or community studio/classroom setting; prior teaching experience preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Kiln management, familiarity with different clay bodies and firing ranges, ability to use and instruct others in studio equipment, tools, and processes, strong communication and organizational skills, and ability to work independently and proactively.
