Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and provide daily direction to Permit Coordinators across multiple branches. Conduct stand-up meetings to review team priorities, performance, and blockers. Oversee recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and retention efforts to build a strong, engaged team. Develop training guides, cross-training resources, and refresher training sessions to ensure consistency and quality. Mentor staff to prepare them for advancement and future leadership roles.
Permitting Operations
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of permit applications in compliance with jurisdictional and ICC code requirements.
- Track permit status across all branches and jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy in reporting.
- Resolve escalations, blockers, and conflicts with internal teams or external agencies.
- Maintain awareness of code updates and jurisdictional changes.
- Partner with internal departments (engineering, CAD, sales, service, branch leadership) to ensure projects move forward without permitting delays.
Process & Reporting
- Establish and enforce standardized permitting procedures across all branches.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Rules of Engagement (ROEs), and jurisdictional requirement sheets.
- Monitor and validate permitting metrics, list boxes, and data tracking tools to ensure accurate reporting.
- Prepare and present weekly, monthly, and annual reports to leadership, analyzing permitting trends and highlighting process improvements.
Collaboration & Communication
- Lead coordination meetings with engineering and CAD teams to address permitting gaps.
- Participate in leadership calls to share permitting updates and report blockers.
- Develop clear communication scripts and resources for interactions with customers, counties, and internal teams.
- Support rollout of new products, processes, and initiatives across all permitting functions.
Compliance & Administration
- Maintain accurate digital filing systems for permitting records, receipts, and compliance documents.
- Process centralized permitting payments and maintain financial documentation.
- Conduct branch visits to oversee team performance and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Lead annual performance and merit reviews, submitting bonus documentation as needed.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of permitting, operations, or project coordination experience.
- 2+ years supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of permitting processes, ICC code, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Proven ability to manage and coach teams to achieve measurable results.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to problem-solve, adapt to change, and manage competing priorities.
