About the role

We are seeking a Central Utility Plant Operator (CUP) team member for our client site in the Greater St. Louis area. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills operating and will be committed to working with others to deliver best in class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Central Utility Plant equipment and systems for a large pharmaceutical facility.
  • Monitor building automation systems to ensure proper, safe, and efficient operation of equipment, adjusting as necessary.
  • Identify and correct problems with CUP equipment such as boilers, chillers, pumps, air compressors, highly purified water systems, clean steam, wastewater systems, and cooling towers.
  • Take daily equipment logs and submit reports as required to the chief engineer.
  • Meet local and state regulatory requirements.
  • Identify problems and create work orders for all equipment.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractor activities.
  • Perform water treatment chemical analysis.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance tasks and make building and CUP rounds.
  • Lead and/or assist technicians in building support services and equipment repairs, with the ability to read drawings, prints, and technical manuals.
  • Work in electronic CMMS and Johnson Controls BAS.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Five years of experience as an industrial HVAC or industrial mechanical maintenance technician, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail, good comprehensive and analytical skills, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
  • Must be a United States citizen or Permanent resident. This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Physical/Special Requirements

  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding.
  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement.
  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions.
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • City of St. Louis Stationary Engineer license, Class I.
  • Proficient with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience working with HPSI steam boilers and associated equipment.
  • Training or experience in Johnson Controls Metasys building automation systems (BAS).
  • Experience working in a CMMS environment (SAP, Maximo, EAMS, etc.).
  • Experience leading or supervising a multi-skilled technical workforce.
  • Experience working with complex electrical and mechanical building equipment.

Pay

$30.00–$33.00 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
