Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

Maintain detailed records related to the quality and infection control of equipment, including documentation of washer test and biologicals.

  • Collect dirty instruments throughout the hospital for processing.
  • Reprocess, assemble, and sterilize instruments and instrument sets, as well as other sterile supplies.
  • Reprocess flexible endoscopes for the Endoscopy department following established protocols.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and order of the Sterile Processing department.
  • Perform maintenance and testing of all equipment used in the department to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient operation of the Central Sterile Department.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and sterile work environment.
  • Assist with inventory management, including restocking supplies and ensuring adequate levels are maintained.
  • Follow established procedures and protocols for sterilization and decontamination processes.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on best practices and regulations in sterile processing.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred).
  • Licenses/Certifications: CS Tech certification (Required).
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sterility; ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment; excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively; strong communication skills to interact with healthcare team members; willingness to adhere to strict protocols and follow established procedures; ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines; must have some computer skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail required for handling delicate instruments.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
