Central Sterile Technician

About the role

The Central Sterile Technician at Ashley Regional Medical Center plays a crucial role in ensuring that all reusable supplies and patient care equipment are properly collected, decontaminated, stored, and distributed. This position requires adherence to strict processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines.
• Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with a strong emphasis on safety.
• Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient's needs.
• Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to verify sterility.
• Maintains and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 3:30pm MST. Call is required.

Qualifications

This position requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in a sterile processing environment is beneficial but not mandatory.

Skills

Strong knowledge of sterile processing procedures, familiarity with AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA guidelines, and proficiency with sterile processing equipment are essential. Basic computer skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions are also required.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $17-$21 per hour.
