Central Sterile Supervisor/UKHC

Job Summary

The Central Sterile Supervisor/UKHC is primarily responsible for facilitating the delivery of patient care through preparing, planning, and providing instrumentation to preoperative services. Responsible for decontamination, correct assembly, and sterile processing of all instrumentation used in the operating rooms. Maintains cleanliness of department and materials management as needed. Must have thorough knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization methodologies, and regulatory standards for biological monitoring.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization methodologies, and regulatory standards for biological monitoring;
• Operating room instrumentation;
• Aseptic techniques and sterilization principles, processing techniques, and instrument/equipment care.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds;
• Standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds;
• Performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing);
• Intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time;
• Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Risk of injuries from moving, lifting or positioning patients, equipment, or materials;
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste; radiation; burns; cuts/punctures; blood-borne or airborne pathogens; and recombinant DNA or viral vectors.

Shift

Monday - Thursday, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm. Day, evening/night or weekend shifts with some on-call, along with holiday and/or weekend requirements.

Required Related Experience

5 yrs

Required License/Registration/Certification

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)

Preferred Education/Experience

Previous central sterile supervisor experience preferred
