Central Services Administrative Specialist, Intermediate
About the role
The Central Services Administrative Specialist, Intermediate position at the Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) - Faribault is responsible for providing administrative and clerical services to process incoming and outgoing institution mail, facility services, resident correspondence and packages, and to document a wide variety of legal and financial transactions for residents and institution staff. This position emphasizes security to ensure no contraband, unauthorized mail, or items enter the institution through the mailroom.
Responsibilities
- Process incoming and outgoing institution mail, facility services, resident correspondence and packages, and document legal and financial transactions.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with DOC policies related to offender property, canteen, and mailroom.
- Provide prompt, courteous, and accurate information to staff, offenders, and members of the public over the phone and in-person.
- Perform skilled typing tasks with speed and accuracy, and use data entry and word processing skills to prepare documents and update spreadsheets.
Requirements
- Typing/keyboarding skills sufficient to perform skilled typing tasks with speed and accuracy.
- Math skills sufficient to perform basic math calculations to process and review orders.
- Data entry skills sufficient to enter and update data into computer applications and DOC-specific systems.
- Word processing skills (preferably Microsoft Word) sufficient to prepare documents that are grammatically correct, in proper format, and free of spelling errors.
- Spreadsheet software (preferably Microsoft Excel) skills sufficient to enter and update spreadsheets.
- Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to other staff, offenders, and members of the public.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include experience in a mailroom environment, correctional environment, maintaining accurate records, and knowledge of DOC policies related to offender property, canteen, and mailroom.
- Preferred qualifications include experience working in a correctional environment and experience maintaining accurate records.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $21.12 - $28.01 per hour, with an annual range of $44,098 - $58,484.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
